Trevor Smith

Principal / Co-Founder

Trevor Smith, Co-Founder and Principal of CIRE Equity, has been an integral part of the organization since co-founding the firm in 2010. As a key member of the CIRE leadership team, Trevor co-directs the strategic planning and execution of the company alongside his partner and co-founder, Josh Volen. His day-to-day responsibilities involve managing the legal, financial, and operational aspects of CIRE’s dynamic and expanding business.

With a wealth of experience in real estate acquisitions, valuation, financing, market analysis, project management, asset management, and dispositions, Trevor plays a vital role on the company’s investment committee. He contributes to critical decision-making processes, guiding investment strategies that have resulted in over $1 billion in transaction volume.

As the team has grown, Trevor has evolved his role, delegating finance and operational responsibilities to his highly qualified team. This shift allows him to focus more on the company’s business strategy. One of his significant achievements includes the launch of CREIT in 2019, which has become the core focus of CIRE’s business. CREIT is a differentiated real estate platform, purpose built to deliver a comprehensive and aligned investment solution to long-term focused investors. It balances a value-oriented investment strategy with high-growth execution to deliver investors a powerful combination of low-risk, durable income and outsized total returns. This unique approach has consistently enabled CIRE to outperform competitive benchmarks in terms of both returns and volatility.

Before co-founding CIRE, Trevor spent six years at Silverberg Development Corp (“SDC”), where he worked his way up from project manager to Vice President and head of acquisitions. His experience ranged from land entitlement and development to single-family home construction and the repositioning of various commercial real estate projects.

Trevor holds a B.S.M. from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business with a focus on Finance and Accounting. He is a member of YPO, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Currently residing in Los Angeles with his wife, two children, and three dogs, Trevor enjoys an active lifestyle, traveling with his family, appreciating art, engaging in exercise, and playing tennis.
